Various Drying Methods
Air Drying
Allowing items to dry at room temperature. Least desired, can cause distortions, feathering & bleeding effects.
Dehumidification Drying
Involves the use of an enclosed chamber or workspace. Dried air (dehumidified air) is instroduced into the chamber. Relative humidities is usually below 15% and the dried air is circulated throughout the chamber. Temperatures are maintained within a moderate range of 79-99°F during the drying process.
Thermal Vacuum Freeze-drying
Items are in a frozen state when placed in a high vacuum chamber. Controlled heat is instroduced into the chamber causing any moisture to go from a solid to a gaseous state. This method allows frozen water to sublimate to vapor without passing through its liquid state. Resulting in minimal distortions.
